Before You Begin
- Ensure you have an active VMware Carbon Black Cloud account.
- VMware Carbon Black Cloud login credentials.
- Access to the VMware Carbon Black API documentation.
- An endpoint to receive and process logs (e.g., a syslog server or SIEM platform).
Steps to Generate API Key and Configure Log Forwarding
Log in to VMware Carbon Black Cloud Console
- Go to the VMware Carbon Black Cloud login page and sign in with your administrator credentials.
Navigate to API Credentials
- In the Carbon Black Cloud console, go to
Settings > API Access
. - Click
Add API Key
.
Create a New API Key
- Enter a name and description for the API key to identify its purpose.
- Select the appropriate access level (e.g., Custom for audit logs).
- Click
Save
to generate the API key. - Copy the generated API key and API ID and store them securely, as they will only be visible at this stage.
Providing Information to Configure SecurIST
After generating the API key, please provide the following information to us to complete the configuration on our side:
- API Key: The API key you generated.
Log Source Details:
- Type of log data (e.g., security events, user activities).
- Any specific identifiers or tags you use.
Log Data Format:
- Format of the logs being sent (e.g., JSON).
Log Source IP Address:
- The IP address from which the logs will be sent.
Please send the above details to our support team via an "Onboard Log source request in your SecurIST platform
